New SMS Scam: "Your Package Was Not Delivered"
Share on:

A new scam is spreading in Greece via SMS, impersonating courier companies. Scammers inform recipients of a supposedly failed package delivery and urge them to click on a link.

The link leads to a fake page that resembles an official courier company website, where credit card details or personal data are requested. Unauthorized charges are then made to the victim's card, or malicious software is installed on their mobile phone.

How to recognize the scam:

  • Strange or misspelled link
  • Sender from a simple mobile number
  • Request for card details
  • Time pressure
  • Generic salutation without a name

What to do:

  • Do not click on the link
  • Delete the message
  • If you are expecting a package, visit the official courier company website by typing the address into your browser
  • If you have given your details, contact your bank immediately

Experts warn that no legitimate courier company asks for card details via SMS to reschedule a delivery.
