New Revelations in Thanassis Nicolaou Case: Officers Held Responsible

New serious revelations have come to light regarding the Thanassis Nicolaou case, according to a report in the newspaper "O Phileleftheros". The criminal investigators' report sheds light on dark aspects of the case.
Thanassis Nicolaou was found dead on September 29, 2005, in Alassa. Initially, the case was classified as suicide, but newer evidence suggests homicide by strangulation.
The report refers to the responsibilities of senior officers for the way they handled incidents of violence and harassment. There were testimonies of hazing, bullying, and psychological pressure towards Thanassis, with the knowledge of his superiors.
In addition, there are reports of drug use and a lack of discipline in the camp. Investigators believe that officers were aware of these situations but did not act.
The report refers to an attempt to cover up the case, with the initial investigation hastily reaching conclusions about suicide, delaying the assignment of responsibilities.
The report has been submitted to the Legal Service, which will decide on possible criminal prosecutions.
Thanassis' mother, Andriana Nicolaou, continued to fight for justice in the case, forcing the state to re-examine the data.
