Convict Found Dead in Cyprus Central Prison

An alarm was raised at the Central Prison on Friday afternoon after a convict was found dead. According to initial reports, the deceased is a 63-year-old Greek Cypriot convict in wing 10, serving a life sentence.

According to the Prison Department, the convict was found around 15:55 without any apparent vital signs and was transferred to the Accident and Emergency Department of the General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

TAE Nicosia was immediately informed. Initial indications suggest that the death was due to cardiac arrest, but the exact causes will be determined after the autopsy.
