The police have submitted three recommendations to the President of the Republic regarding the fires that affected mountainous Limassol on July 23rd. The report, submitted by Police Chief Themistoklis Arnaoutis, includes proposals for the Command Station, information dissemination, and the national plan "Pyrsos."

According to the report, the police took measures to secure the areas affected by the fire, including road closures and ensuring access for fire trucks. They also assisted in protecting citizens and evacuating villages, monasteries, and campsites.

The Police Chief's recommendations include restricting access to the forward Command Station only to those involved in firefighting or crisis management. It is also proposed that information be provided by a single Press Officer, who will represent all services, and that the Special National Plan "Pyrsos" be revised.

A total of 145 police officers participated in the firefighting operations, and 54 police vehicles were used. The Limassol Police Department was reinforced with personnel from various services, including the Traffic Headquarters, MMAD, the Larnaca Police Department, and the Port and Maritime Police.

The Limassol CID is investigating the causes of the fire, as well as the circumstances surrounding the death of the Filippidis couple, who were found dead in a burnt vehicle.
