Paphos: Sentence Upheld for Driver Who Killed and Abandoned Woman

The Court of Appeal upheld the 6-year prison sentence imposed by the Paphos Criminal Court on a driver, I. Ξ, for manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident. The case concerns a fatal traffic accident that occurred on December 19, 2021, in Paphos.
According to the evidence, Androula Papachristoforou was initially hit by an unknown vehicle, and then, while injured on the asphalt, was struck again by the vehicle of I. Ξ. The court found that I. Ξ. drove over the woman's body twice with his car and then left the scene.
The Court of Appeal rejected all grounds of appeal by the convicted person, ruling that the initial decision was correct both in terms of conviction and sentence. It was also noted that the driver initially gave a false statement to the police.
