Defense Ministry Report on Explosives Theft from National Guard Due Next Week

The Ministry of Defence announced that the investigation into the disappearance of explosives during a National Guard exercise is ongoing. According to the announcement, the investigation is expected to be completed within the next week, at which point the results will be announced.
Cyprus Times reports that the report will assign responsibilities to National Guard personnel regarding the disappearance of 13.6kg of TNT from a firing range. Defense Minister Vassilis Palmas instructed for the rapid completion of the report.
The internal investigation focuses on the time of training, where inactivity and insufficient supervision were observed. It is being investigated whether there was adequate control and security of the explosives by the responsible officers and non-commissioned officers.
The police investigation continues, with authorities making efforts to locate the explosives.
