Cyprus: Wildfire Scams - Police Warns Public

The Cybercrime Sub-Division warns of misleading posts exploiting the recent devastating wildfires for financial gain.

Unknown perpetrators are spreading false stories on social networks, claiming that individuals lost everything in the fires and raised money through apps or games.

The posts contain misleading links leading to registrations, money deposits, or the disclosure of personal data.

The Cyprus Police advises:

• Do not trust strangers promising easy money.
• Do not enter personal data on unknown websites.
• If you find such posts, report them to the platform.
