Warning! Scam Messages About Traffic Fines

The National Cybersecurity Authority warns of a surge in misleading messages (phishing) regarding traffic fines. Perpetrators are attempting to deceive citizens via SMS (smishing), aiming to steal personal data or money.

These messages impersonate public services, state an "outstanding traffic fine," and urge recipients to click a link for details or payment. Authorities emphasize that the links lead to fake websites that collect user data.

Tips for protection:

• Never give personal information (Taxis codes, e-Banking, etc.) to strangers.
• Access websites of agencies and banks directly, not through links in messages.
• Carefully check the sender's address and the type of information requested.
• Be wary of messages that create a sense of urgency or concern tax refunds/benefits.
