Beware of Online Holiday Bookings: Hackers Target Popular Website

Consumers making online holiday bookings should be cautious as hackers are using the name of a popular booking platform to extract money.
The perpetrators send messages that appear to be official platform notifications, using logos and booking details, requesting immediate payment, usually around 100 euros, for "booking confirmation." Once the victim pays, the money ends up with the fraudsters.
According to Virginia Christou, Legal Officer of the Consumers' Association, at least 15 incidents have been reported in the last three days. Consumers are charged at least 20% of the total value of their booking.
The Consumers' Association warns the public to be careful, as major platforms do not request payments via email and citizens cannot get their money back.
