Gerasas Fire: Investigation into Angle Grinder Work on Vehicles

A fire that broke out in the Gerasas area, in the Limassol district, appears to have been caused by work in a field. Police are investigating a person who allegedly used an angle grinder to cut parts from abandoned vehicles.
The fire broke out at 12:25 and was brought under control approximately 35 minutes later. It burned an area of eight decares with wild vegetation and trees.
30 people from the Department of Forests participated in the extinguishing operation with seven vehicles, reinforced by the Fire Service and four aircraft.
