Limassol Fire: Second US Team Arrives After ATF Experts

A second team of experts from the US is expected to arrive in Cyprus to assist in the investigation of the devastating fire in mountainous Limassol, following the first team of experts from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
The first team, which began its investigation from "ground zero" west of Mallia, is focusing on investigating the causes of the fire. The second team will examine the crisis management and protection measures implemented during the spread of the fire.
Government circles emphasize the importance of an in-depth investigation by the ATF experts and the new approach to crisis management in Cyprus, with the help of the United States.
The work of the first team is divided into two phases: collecting data on the causes of the fire and transferring know-how, training Cypriots and strengthening cooperation between services.
The second team will focus on the management of the fire by the Cypriot authorities, including the role of the Police and Civil Defense.
The head of the first team, Brian Lavin, said they will work effectively to provide answers to the government, in cooperation with the Cypriot authorities.
