Fires in Abandoned Buildings in Nicosia

The Fire Department was alerted to two fires in abandoned buildings in Nicosia this afternoon.

The first fire broke out in waste materials in the basement of an abandoned building on Themistokli Dervi Avenue. Three fire engines responded.

The second fire occurred in a pile of waste materials in the yard of an abandoned house on Kennedy Avenue, with four fire engines responding. The fire affected a heating room, an oil tank, and several trees. Two parked vehicles sustained damage.

The causes of the fires are being investigated in cooperation with the Police and the Electromechanical Service.
