Arrest for Poaching: Hundreds of Dead Wild Birds Seized

Police arrested a 41-year-old in the Nicosia district and a 42-year-old in the Larnaca district for poaching. During the raid, over 1000 dead wild birds were seized.
At the 41-year-old's home in the Nicosia district, 952 dead wild birds, five trapping nets, and 817 plastic packaging containers were found. In the fenced area in the Larnaca district, 297 wild birds were located, of which 149 were dead and 147 were released, as well as two mimic machines.
The 42-year-old was arrested for possession of cannabis. Also seized were a hunting gun, cartridges, mimic devices, and two killed wild birds from a vehicle he allegedly drove. A 44-year-old was also arrested for possession of cartridges and knives.
The Game and Wildlife Service is expected to issue out-of-court fines. Investigations are continuing.
