Driving Schools Express Concern Over Road Accidents - Licensing Responsibility Lies with TOM

Driving Schools Associations express strong concern about the increase in road accidents in Cyprus. In a statement, the Associations P.O.E.I.O., PA.S.E.S.O. and S.I.S.O.K. emphasize that the responsibility for licensing lies solely with the Road Transport Department (TOM) and the drivers individually.

The Associations reject the attribution of responsibility to driving schools, arguing that instructors provide the necessary training but have no role in the approval of licenses. They also point out cases of licenses from abroad that are recognized directly by TOM, as well as the fact that many drivers hold licenses issued under older standards.

The Associations call on society and institutions to focus on the essence of the problem and emphasize that driving behavior is an individual responsibility.
