Reactions are intense following the fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of a 20-year-old on Larnakos Avenue in Nicosia. The Deputy Mayor of Aglantzia, Andreas Constantinou, and citizens have repeatedly denounced the phenomenon of speed racing in the area.

Mr. Constantinou stated that since his previous term, he had sent at least three letters to the Chief of Police, expressing his concerns about the situation on Larnakos Avenue. He emphasized that the letters remained unanswered.

According to the Deputy Mayor, in 2020, the first letter was sent following a traffic accident in which a young girl fell into a coma and now faces mobility problems. Despite repeated appeals, there was no substantial response.

Mr. Constantinou suggests installing fixed cameras on Larnakos Avenue, expressing his dissatisfaction with the fact that measures are only taken after tragic events. Residents have also made continuous complaints to the police about the situation in the area.

In a post, Mr. Constantinou expressed his grief over the death of 20-year-old Kyriakos Antoniou, stressing that the Municipality has repeatedly pointed out the danger to the Police.
