Fatal Accident in Engomi: 28-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies

A tragic traffic accident occurred in Engomi, claiming the life of a 28-year-old motorcyclist. Andreas Antoniou died in a collision with a car driven by a 23-year-old woman on Griva Digeni Avenue.
The accident happened around 10:20 PM. Andreas Antoniou was taken to Nicosia General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the Police, the car driver underwent alcohol and drug tests with negative results and was arrested to facilitate investigations. Kyriakos Theodorou, a Police Officer, appealed to anyone with information to contact the Nicosia Traffic Police.
Andreas Antoniou was a police officer in YKAN and, according to reports, was about to get married soon. The Police expressed their grief over the loss.
The death of the 28-year-old brings the number of road fatalities in Cyprus to 12 for 2024. The Minister of Transport, Alexis Vafeadis, stressed the need to focus on vulnerable road users and driver distraction.
