Fatal Accident in Amiantos: 74-Year-Old Dead

A 74-year-old, Sotiris Trigkis from Limassol, died in a traffic accident near Kato Amiantos square. The accident occurred when the tanker truck driven by Trigkis veered off course, hit a concrete wall and a telecommunications pole, and overturned.

Marios Charalambous, Head of Traffic Police Limassol, stated that the driver was trapped and freed by the Fire Department, but was pronounced dead at Kyperounta hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Initial indications attribute the accident to overheating brakes and poor tire condition. The vehicle was deregistered since 2009 and had no insurance coverage.
