Turkish Cypriot Arrested in Agios Dometios with Hides and Cigarettes
On April 22nd and 23rd, 2026, Customs Department officers in Agios Dometios arrested a Turkish Cypriot in two separate incidents.
In the first instance, 75 kg of bovine hides were found in his vehicle. He was released after paying ā¬500 for an out-of-court settlement.
In the second instance, 175 cartons of cigarettes, 100 cartons of heated cigarettes, and 6 kg of hookah tobacco without the necessary markings in Greek and Turkish were found. He is expected to be brought before the Nicosia District Court tomorrow for a detention order.
