Shocking discovery in Trinidad and Tobago, where the remains of at least 50 infants and six adults were found in a cemetery in Cumuto, approximately 40 kilometers from the capital, Port of Spain.

Authorities are conducting forensic examinations to determine the origin of the remains and whether laws or procedures have been violated.

Of the six adult bodies, four belonged to men and two to women. Evidence of autopsy was found on two of the bodies.

Police Chief Allister Guevarro described the incident as 'deeply disturbing'. The case comes amid a period of increased crime in the country, which recorded 623 homicides in 2024.

In 2023, Trinidad and Tobago had one of the highest homicide rates in the world, with 37 murders per 100,000 inhabitants.
