Troodos Fire: 32-Year-Old Detained β Involvement in Other Cases Investigated
A 32-year-old has been arrested and detained for six days in connection with the Troodos fire. The arrest followed an assessment of information regarding a suspicious vehicle in the area.
The head of TAE Lemesos, Lefteris Kyriakou, stated that the information was initially evaluated, and subsequently, a written testimony emerged linking the suspect to the offense.
The arrested individual claimed he was in the area and threw extinguished cigarette butts from his vehicle, without malicious intent. Authorities are investigating his possible involvement in other cases.
Evidence, including solid petroleum, was found at the fire site and is being examined. Additional testimonies will be taken, and the suspect's claims will be investigated.
Furthermore, information regarding possible arson in the Mouttagiaka fire is being investigated, where suspicious individuals were seen before the fire started.
