Violanta: Revealing testimonies about the explosion
Share on:

Revealing are the testimonies of employees at the Violanta biscuit factory regarding the explosion on January 26, 2026, which cost the lives of five female workers.

Employees describe a strong propane odor as early as November 2025, which was reported but not addressed. According to the testimonies, the company's management was aware of the leak but did not take serious safety measures.

An employee testified that he was assigned to install a new propane gas line by Konstantinos Tziortziotis, without having the necessary permit. Another employee reported that she informed the production managers about the odor, but nothing was done.

A worker testified that he heard a small audible alarm after the explosion, while employees report that there were no evacuation plans or training for similar cases.

A worker acting as a plumber testified that he was told to say that the odor came from the sewers. A mechanical engineer called to conduct a leak test found a large gas leak.
