Cypriot authorities have requested assistance from the British Police regarding a Channel 4 documentary alleging exploitation and sexual harassment of British women in Ayia Napa. According to the Cyprus Times, authorities have launched an investigation and are awaiting material from Britain.

Investigators from TAE Ammochostos are examining the edited documentary and awaiting unedited material and information from Britain for further investigation. Authorities are also investigating the possibility of a ring with underage victims.

The documentary concerns issues of sexual harassment and exploitation of women by individuals controlling the nightlife in Ayia Napa. The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zanettou, stated that he did not rule out the existence of isolated incidents, but stressed that these do not reflect the overall image of the area.

Authorities are called upon to take the necessary actions and bring the perpetrators to justice.
