British Police Assistance Requested for Ayia Napa Documentary

Cypriot authorities have requested assistance from the British Police regarding a Channel 4 documentary alleging exploitation and sexual harassment of British women in Ayia Napa. According to the Cyprus Times, Famagusta TAE investigators have launched an ex officio investigation and are awaiting unedited material from Britain.
Authorities are investigating the possibility of trafficking rings, with victims including minors. The documentary depicts bar owners boasting about incidents of sexual harassment.
The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zannettou, stated that he does not rule out isolated incidents, but stressed that they do not reflect the overall image of the area.
