Hand Grenade Found at Ayia Napa Establishment with People and Children

A hand grenade was discovered at a summer entertainment establishment in Ayia Napa during a police operation. The operation was launched following phone calls reporting the placement of explosive devices in the free Famagusta area, including the specific establishment.

At the time of the discovery, several people, including children, were present at the establishment. The premises were immediately evacuated by the police without causing panic, in order to conduct further investigations.

Statements are expected to be taken from the owner and staff, and footage from closed-circuit television will be evaluated to identify the perpetrator.

According to the police, on Saturday afternoon, an unknown person called the Ayia Napa Police Station and reported the placement of explosive devices at the establishment and other locations. A second call was made to a television station in Nicosia with the same report.

The hand grenade was collected by bomb disposal experts for examination. The Famagusta TAE is investigating the case.
