Defense Minister: Penalties for Missing National Guard Explosives

Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas stated on Thursday that penalties will be imposed on National Guard personnel regarding the loss of explosives during a training exercise. The penalties will be imposed by the Chief of the National Guard following the completion of the internal investigation.

Mr. Palmas mentioned that police investigations are ongoing and expressed hope that there will be developments soon regarding the whereabouts of the explosives. He declined to go into details regarding the testimonies and responsibilities, emphasizing that a large number of people have testified.

Asked about the possibility that the explosives are outside the National Guard, the Minister replied that all possibilities are open and reiterated that they are awaiting the results of the police investigations to locate the explosives.
