A 48-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman have been detained by order of the Limassol District Court for five days, pending investigation into a case of causing a wildfire. The case concerns the fire that broke out on March 8 in the area of the Anogyra community, in the Limassol district.

The two suspects were arrested yesterday afternoon by members of the Police, under warrants issued based on testimony obtained from police investigations. They allegedly deny any involvement in the case, making claims that are being investigated.

The fire broke out on March 8, shortly after 1.30 pm, in the Anogyra area, burning 600 square meters of dry land and wild vegetation. The fire was extinguished by a fire truck crew from the Anogyra Community Council.

Investigations by the Police and the Fire Service revealed that the fire was deliberately set, with three points of origin. The Limassol CID is investigating the case.
