Two Turkish Cypriots Detained in Connection with Arrest of 5 Greek Cypriots in Occupied Territories

The 83-year-old Turkish Cypriot real estate agent will remain in custody for 3 days, having been arrested in the occupied territories in connection with the case of the 5 Greek Cypriots. Two real estate agents, a father and son, were arrested on July 23. The son was released in previous days, while the father is being held for violating the 'laws on the protection of personal data'.
At the 'district court' of Trikomo, the 'police' stated that the property title information in the folder held by the Greek Cypriots bears the seal and signature of the real estate agent. 3,000 messages from his email are being examined.
The real estate agent's lawyer argued that the case is political. Also, the employee of the 'land registry' of Kyrenia was presented, detained since July 31 for violating the same laws and 'abuse of power'. The 'police' claimed that the employee gave the information to the real estate agent. The 'court' ordered his detention as well.
