Former Commissioner of Volunteerism, Yiannakis Yiannakis, has pleaded guilty to three counts of circulating a forged official document, related to his high school diploma and American university degree submitted to the Cyprus Youth Organization (ONEK).

According to the admitted facts presented at the Nicosia District Court, Yiannakis did not study Civil Engineering at the University of San Diego, but only attended some courses, such as 'Psychology of Humor.'

The case began after a police investigation in May 2021, which revealed fraudulent entries on his high school diploma and a forged seal from the US Embassy on his degree. Yiannakis has been suspended from duty since June 2021.

The Legal Service suspended five of the eight charges. The next hearing is on August 29.
