Nikos Sykas Case: Awaiting Information from Greece for Decision

The Legal Service is awaiting additional information from Greece regarding the case of MP Nikos Sykas, whose immunity has been lifted following a complaint of violence against his partner.

A request has been sent to the Greek authorities for clarifications on a specific issue. A final decision is expected soon, regardless of the withdrawal of the complaint by the complainant.

Savas Angelides stated that cases of violence are examined comprehensively, even if the complaint is withdrawn. The case became known after a complaint by Nikos Sykas's partner of physical and psychological violence after their return from Athens. The complaint was subsequently withdrawn, but the investigation continued.

Nikos Sykas denies the charges. The investigations include medical examinations in Athens and Cyprus.
