Resurrection of Lazarus Custom Revived in Lempa

The traditional custom of the Resurrection of Lazarus representation was revived in Lempa, preserving an important tradition of the ecclesiastical and folk heritage.

The event took place after the Palm Sunday service, in the courtyard of the church of Agios Stefanos, with the participation of residents and visitors. Children from Lempa - Chloraka Elementary School sang the song of Lazarus, reviving the custom.

According to the President of the Lempa Community Council, Thoukydidis Chrysostomou, the community authority aims to preserve traditions. Girls gathered flowers to decorate their baskets and sang Lazarus carols in the streets, receiving treats.

The body of Lazarus was covered with yellow flowers and palm branches. The priest of the Church of Agios Stefanos Lempa, Father Stavros Leonidou, expressed his satisfaction with the large participation of the public.

In addition, a representation of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem took place in Prodromi, while traditional delicacies were baked in Tremithousa.
