Andreas Mavrommatis: Tributes to Top Chef After His Death

The iconic Cypriot chef Andreas Mavrommatis passed away at the age of 69, plunging the gastronomic world into mourning. His death, caused by a heart attack, sparked emotion and numerous messages of condolence.
From the President of the Republic of Cyprus to Giorgos Dalaras and Dina Nikolaou, many expressed their grief at the loss of Andreas Mavrommatis, who was one of the most important ambassadors of Cypriot and Greek gastronomy abroad.
Andreas Mavrommatis was the first Cypriot chef to be awarded a Michelin star in 2018 for his restaurant #LeMavrommatis in Paris. Together with his brothers, Evagoras and Dionysis, he founded the #MaisonMavrommatis group, which includes restaurants, cellars and delicatessen shops throughout France and Cyprus.
The Speaker of the House, Annita Dimitriou, and former President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiades, paid tribute to the chef, recognizing his contribution to the promotion of Cypriot cuisine internationally.
