International Conference on Yannis Ritsos in Cyprus

An international scientific conference on Yannis Ritsos, titled "These faces are only comfortable in the sun," is being organized by the Literature and Criticism Group (O.L.K.), in collaboration with the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies of the University of Cyprus on Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27, in the University's Ceremonial Hall.

According to an announcement by the Group, 40 academics and other scholars from Cyprus and Greece will participate in the conference with their original announcements.

At the opening ceremony, on September 26, among others, the Archbishop of Cyprus and the poet's daughter, Eri Ritsou, will deliver brief greetings, Cypriot writers will read unpublished works that "dialogue" with the poet, while the Choir of PA.SY.D.Y., under the direction of Maro Mitsa, will present Yannis Ritsos's poetry set to music.

The Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference is Professor Giorgos Andreiomenos and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee is the Vice-President of O.L.K. Gavriella Panagi.

It is mentioned that attendance at the conference will only be possible in person, while a certificate of attendance will be granted to those who wish.
