Joan Burstein, 'Godmother of British Fashion,' Dies at 100

Joan Burstein, known as the 'Godmother of British Fashion' and founder of the Browns boutique in London, has passed away at the age of 100.
Burstein founded Browns in 1970 with her husband, Sidney Burstein. The store started as a small space on South Molton Street and evolved into a major fashion emporium.
'Mrs. B,' as she was also known, was instrumental in promoting designers such as Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, and Christopher Kane. She also introduced names like Giorgio Armani and Ralph Lauren to the British market.
In 2015, Browns was acquired by Farfetch.
