The 13th Carob Festival in Peyeia was a great success, with over 3000 people celebrating the "black gold". The event, held last night, highlighted the region's reputation for its carob trees and historical carob exports.

The Festival attracted visitors from Peyeia, Paphos, as well as tourists from all over Cyprus and abroad. Despite reactions and attempts to cancel the Festival due to concerns about the Toxeftra area and turtles, the residents of Peyeia sent a strong message.

The President of the District Self-Government Organization, Charalambos Pittokopitis, referred to attempts to cancel the Festival, while the Deputy Mayor of Peyeia of the Akamas Municipality, Andreas Christodoulou, stressed that similar events will continue. Haris Arkadiou, on behalf of the organizers, emphasized the importance of protecting the environment by the residents themselves.

The event included traditional delicacies, kiosks, and an artistic program with Ilias Vrettos and Georgia Vrana.
