Nightgowns, once strictly associated with the bedroom, have made a striking shift in fashion, conquering runways and street style. This trend, also prominently observed on social media, highlights comfort and historical accuracy in silhouettes.

On TikTok, videos with the hashtag #nightgown have increased by 200% in the last 12 months, while influencers on Instagram express their enthusiasm for vintage nightgowns. Designers such as John Galliano and Calvin Klein have incorporated lingerie elements into their collections, while Stella McCartney presented them as part of her collection for Chloé.

Rachel Tashjian, a fashion critic at The Washington Post, emphasizes the comfort and versatility of nightgowns, noting that they offer an alternative to baggy tracksuits. Sandeep Salter, co-founder of Salter House, mentions that organic cotton nightgowns are particularly popular.

This trend is not limited to women. At Milan Men's Fashion Week, Dolce & Gabbana presented loungewear and pajama sets, highlighting comfort in menswear as well. Tashjian also comments on the political dimension of the trend, linking it to the revival of conservative styles.
