Melina Mercouri Memorial Day: Free entry to archaeological sites

March 6th marks Melina Mercouri Memorial Day. As every year, admission to archaeological sites, museums, and monuments under public administration is free.

Participating sites: Acropolis, Ancient Agora, National Archaeological Museum, Delphi, Akrotiri of Thera, Palace of Knossos, and all other archaeological sites managed by the Ministry of Culture.

The Acropolis Museum also participates with free admission (usually 09:00 – 17:00 or depending on the winter schedule).

Free tickets are issued at the ticket offices of the sites or through the hhticket.gr platform. Increased attendance is expected.

The Municipality of Athens offers free guided tours of archaeological sites in March 2026.

Free admission on other dates: April 18 (International Monuments Day), May 18 (International Museum Day), Last weekend of September (European Heritage Days), October 28 (National Holiday), First and third Sunday of each month from November 1 to March 31.
