Kassianidou: Lefkara as a Beacon of Culture

The Deputy Minister of Culture, Vassiliki Kassianidou, described Lefkara as a "dynamic beacon of culture" during the 43rd Lefkara Festival. Her presence, she stated, underscores the Ministry's support for the region.

Ms. Kassianidou emphasized that the festival serves as a bridge between cultural heritage and contemporary creation, with the Ministry focusing on preserving and strengthening local cultural creation.

She also mentioned the inscription of Lefkara lace on the UNESCO list in 2009, the first Cypriot element included in the list, as well as the art of silversmithing. She emphasized the responsibility of preserving and transmitting these arts to future generations.

The Deputy Minister also referred to the grant program of the Folk Culture Sector, which supports actions related to intangible cultural heritage.
