Work will commence immediately to install new membranes at the Kourion Archaeological Site, following the signing of the relevant contracts. The works involve the removal of existing membranes and the reinstallation of new ones on the canopies of the Archaeological Site and at the Visitor Center, to protect them from weather phenomena.

The contract for the project “Supply and Installation of Membranes at the Kourion Archaeological Site” was signed on Thursday, August 21, at the Central Offices of the Department of Public Works. The contract was signed by Eleftherios Eleftheriou, Director of the Department of Public Works, on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus, and Akis Loukas, Director of L&S TECHNOMACHINE LTD, on behalf of the company.

The project, with a total cost of €1,294,500 plus VAT, is scheduled to begin around the end of August and will last 12 months. It includes the removal of existing membranes from the House of Eustolios, the Visitor Center, the House of Gladiators, the House of Achilles, the ticket office of the Amathus Gate, the Apollo ticket office, and the Baths of Apollo, and the installation of new membranes.

The works also include the correction/completion of arches/columns made of glued laminated timber on the canopies. The project is funded by national resources and aims to maintain archaeological sites and upgrade infrastructure to improve the visitor experience.
