Restoration Completed at Panagia of Lysi Church

Restoration work has been completed on the Panagia of Lysi church, a significant monument of Cypriot architecture. The restoration was carried out through collaboration between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot architects, engineers, and conservators.
Sotos Ktoris, head of the Bi-communal Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage, shared images of the church's interior on social media, describing it as 'beautiful and simple.'
The church, built in the late 19th century by master builder Mastre Yakoumi (Iakovos Pavlou), combines traditional stonework with neo-Gothic elements. Mr. Ktoris emphasized the monument's exceptional aesthetic and technical perfection.
The restoration team included Margarita Petrou, Enver Eronen, Despoina Athanasiou, Ismail Safkan, Katerina Athienitou, and Christos Karis, with supervision by Fatos Mullaaziz on behalf of UNDP.
