Over 150 Events at the Venice Biennale

The Venice Biennale presented its program, starting on June 7th with the 54th International Theatre Festival, directed by Willem Dafoe. The program also includes the 20th International Festival of Contemporary Dance and the 70th International Festival of Contemporary Music.

In total, 158 events are scheduled with 470 artists, selected from 1,841 applications from 48 countries. More than 200 artists will participate in 55 events, with eleven productions and co-productions, ten world premieres, two European and four Italian premieres.

Guests include Christos Stergioglou, Mario Banushi, Satoshi Miyagi, and the Indonesian group Bumi Purnati. Emma Dante will present the world premiere of I fantasmi.

The Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement is awarded to the Bangarra Dance Theatre of Australia, and the Silver Lion to Mamela Nyamza.

The Music Festival includes the world premiere of Musica per una fine by Ennio Morricone, as well as Gigi Masin's Wind.

The world premiere of "At the Threshold of Your Love" with Lyra Pramuk and Mohammad Reza Mortazavi will also be presented.
