Archaeologist Lila Maragkou Passes Away – Amorgos in Mourning

The distinguished archaeologist and Professor Emeritus of Archaeology, Lila Maragkou, has passed away at the age of 87. Mrs. Maragkou's name is closely linked to the research and promotion of the history of Amorgos.

Lila Maragkou studied archaeology and completed her doctoral thesis in Tübingen, Germany in 1969. She was a Professor Emeritus at the University of Ioannina and a member of the German Archaeological Institute.

Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni expressed her sorrow for the loss, emphasizing her invaluable contribution to archaeological research in Amorgos and her dedication to teaching.
