Giorgio Armani Dies: Italian Fashion Designer Passes Away at 91

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has died at the age of 91, his company announced on Thursday, September 4th. Armani was synonymous with Italian style and elegance.
Born on July 11, 1934, in Piacenza, Italy, Armani founded his company, Giorgio Armani S.p.A., in 1975. He quickly became known for his tailoring and style in business attire, creating the iconic power suit.
From the 1980s onwards, his influence expanded globally, dressing Hollywood and establishing one of the strongest fashion houses internationally. In addition to haute couture (Armani Privé), his lines included ready‑to‑wear (Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani) and more accessible lines (Armani Exchange, Jeans, Collezioni). He also invested in beauty (Armani Beauty), interior design (Armani Casa), and hotels (Armani Hotels).
He also had influence in the sports world, designing uniforms for Olympic teams and the Chelsea football team, and owning Olimpia Milano.
In 2024, he celebrated his 90th birthday and 50 years in fashion.
