Terence Stamp, Acclaimed Actor, Dies at 87

British actor Terence Stamp has died at the age of 87. His career spanned over 60 films and included collaborations with prominent directors.
He gained widespread recognition for his role as General Zod in the "Superman" films. He also worked with Pier Paolo Pasolini in "Theorem" and Ken Loach in "Poor Cow".
Stamp received an Oscar nomination for "Billy Budd" and won awards at Cannes for "The Collector" and at Berlin for "Beltenebros".
His filmography also includes "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert", "Queen of the Desert", "Far from the Madding Crowd", and "Valkyrie".
Born in London's East End in 1938, Stamp had relationships with Julie Christie, Brigitte Bardot, and model Jean Shrimpton.
He passed away on August 17, his family announced in a statement to Reuters.
