Tenders have been announced for the execution of restoration works on three churches in the occupied areas: the church of Panagia Apsinthiotissa in Sygchari, the church of Panagia Galaktotrofousa in Palaikythro, and the church of Agios Prokopios in Sygrasi.

As stated to CYPRUS NEWS AGENCY (CYPE) by the co-chair of the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage, Sotos Ktoris, works on the three projects are expected to begin in the autumn.

Furthermore, works are expected to commence in the coming days on the mosques in Koilani and Agios Thomas (Limassol district), the church of Panagia Faneromeni in Gastria (Karpasia), and the church of Agios Georgios in Vokolida.

Mr. Ktoris emphasized that the Committee's goal is to maintain and restore all cemeteries throughout Cyprus.

The religious movement "Agios Fanourios - Kyrenia" has requested that the cemetery of Agios Georgios in Kyrenia be included in the maintenance list, and that the cave and chapel of Agios Fanourios be preserved.

Mr. Ktoris mentioned that the handrail and metal gate at the church of Agios Fanourios have already been maintained.
