Alkinoos Ioannidis' Touching Eulogy for Dionysis Savvopoulos

Alkinoos Ioannidis bid farewell to Dionysis Savvopoulos with tears, calling him his "childhood hero," delivering a moving eulogy.

Ioannidis referred to Savvopoulos' first concert he attended in Nicosia, Cyprus, saying that Savvopoulos "set up a celebration" at a time when few artists visited the island.

"Today we bid you farewell as a person important to song and culture, important to our thought, feeling, and aesthetics," Ioannidis said.

Referring to Savvopoulos' impact, Ioannidis stated: "We exist because you existed... You taught us the alphabet of our sacred art."

In closing, he emphasized that Savvopoulos, along with Manos Hatzidakis and Vasilis Tsitsanis, "illuminated the squares, theaters, homes, and our hearts."
