«The Wizard of the Kremlin»: Jude Law as «Putin» at Venice Film Festival

«The Wizard of the Kremlin», directed by Olivier Assayas, premiered at the Venice Film Festival, with Jude Law portraying Vladimir Putin. Law's performance is already generating discussion.
The film, competing for the Golden Lion, is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Giuliano da Empoli and follows Putin's rise to power through the eyes of a fictional advisor, Vadim Baranov, played by Paul Dano. The character of Baranov is inspired by Vladislav Surkov.
Jude Law used special prosthetics to resemble Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the subtle movements that create the Russian president's characteristic expression.
The film also stars Alicia Vikander and Jeffrey Wright. Filming took place in Latvia.
The 82nd Venice Film Festival is being held from August 27 to September 6, 2025.
