Cate Blanchett Receives Standing Ovation in Venice

Cate Blanchett received a five-minute standing ovation at the premiere of “Father Mother Sister Brother” at the 82nd Venice Film Festival. The screening took place in the Sala Grande.

Directed by Jim Jarmusch, the film tells the stories of three different families. According to Variety, the film was enthusiastically received by the audience. After the screening, Jarmusch kissed the hands of the leading actresses Cate Blanchett, Vicky Krieps, Charlotte Rampling, Mayim Bialik and India Moore.

“Father Mother Sister Brother” explores the relationships between adult children and their estranged parents, with chapters set in New Jersey, Dublin and Paris.

The film marks Jarmusch's return to Venice after 22 years.

The film is expected to be released in American theaters on December 24.
