Actress Sofia Seirli Drowns in Fournoi, Ikaria

The artistic world is in mourning following the death of actress Sofia Seirli, who drowned at the age of 77 while swimming in Fournoi, Ikaria.
According to reports, the actress attempted to swim a long distance but was unable to return to shore. Her death was confirmed by her cousin and actor-director Nikos Chatzopoulos.
Sofia Seirli was born in Alexandria in 1947 and graduated from the National Theatre Drama School in 1975. She had a long and successful career in theatre, working with many companies, including the National Theatre of Greece. She also appeared in popular television series such as "Agries Melisses (Wild Bees)" and "Mavro Rodo (Black Rose)."
She taught acting at the theatre department of the University of Patras and at drama schools. In an interview, she mentioned her two-year relationship with French actor Michel Piccoli.
