Triumphant Premiere for 'Hold Me' at Sundance
Myrsini Aristidou's film 'Hold Me' had a dynamic premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, receiving a double standing ovation. The world premiere took place on Monday, January 26th, at the Library Theater, in a sold-out hall.
The subsequent screenings of the film in Park City, Utah, are also sold out. The first official screening concluded in an atmosphere of intense emotion and was enthusiastically applauded by the audience, receiving a warm welcome from viewers, professionals, and film critics.
'Hold Me' is the first Cypriot, Greek-language production to premiere at Sundance. The screening was followed by a Q&A with the director and the lead actors, with the audience showing keen interest in the film's themes and Cypriot identity.
Initial reviews are particularly positive, referring to a 'deep exercise in observation, with a rough, sunlit honesty.' The international sales company Cercamon has acquired the worldwide distribution rights to the film. Cercamon's CEO, Sébastien Chesneau, stated that the film combines authenticity and universal emotion.
The film is one of ten selected in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition category, the results of which will be announced on January 30th.
