Tychikos: Refusal to Meet Archbishop, Allegations of Abusive Behavior

The dispute between the deposed Metropolitan Tychikos and Archbishop of Cyprus George continues, with the former refusing a meeting in Paphos. Lawyer Evagelia Poulla, on behalf of a support group for Tychikos, claims that the Metropolitan refused due to oppressive behavior.
Evagelia Poulla stated that the Archbishop refuses to provide documents, including evidence and minutes requested by Tychikos' side. She also claims that there is an attempt to undermine the personality of the former Metropolitan and describes the judicial process as a "sham trial."
In addition, the Church's choice for the memorial service of Tychikos' mother caused tension. According to complaints, a remote chapel of Agios Georgios Mesanon and a Saturday were chosen to limit the participation of believers.
Theologian Christakis Kyriakou stated that the Archbishop does not act vindictively, but with foresight. He also stressed the Archbishop's intention for a meeting and for scheduling pending issues in the Metropolis.
